Coed Varsity Cross Country · Stars Face Strong Competition in Memphis

Looking to build on its success at the Raider Twilight this past weekend the Stars boys and girls cross country teams ran very strong in the Memphis Twilight Invitational on September 2nd.

Racing against many of the top ranked teams from the Southeast, the boys finished 5th out of 58 teams, with a team average time of 16:56 for the 5k race. The Stars were once again led by Senior, Dawson Reed, 8th with career best of 16:13. Following Reed was Canaan Anderson, 23rd at 16:44, Tucker Moss, 48th, with a new personal best of 17:09. Wrapping the Star scorers were Seth Robinson, 51st, 17:12 and Luke Cassidy, 64th, 17:19.

The Lady Stars finished 13th out of 47 teams. Marilyn McCarthy, 19:32 led the girls with another top 10 finish. Rachel Strayer, 11th  followed McCarthy with an outstanding personal best time of 19:39. Emma McLaughlin, 59th, 21:03, Kendall d’Oliveira, 102nd, 21:39, and Paige Johnson, 252rd, 25:01 rounded out the top five scorers for the girls.

The Stars return to action Sept. 16th when they compete in the Tennessee Classic on the state meet course in Nashville.
