On Saturday, Sept. 23, the Stars Cross Country teams competed at the Gatorland Invitational in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The boys were the favorite to win going into the race and they did just that, placing 4 boys inside the top 10. They were led once again by senior Dawson Reed, who took the individual title in the race with a personal best time of 16:08, which was 24 seconds ahead of second place. Following Reed was Freshman Tucker Moss, 3rd, 16:46, Canaan Anderson, 5th, 16:59, Seth Robinson, 6th, 17:02, and Emilio Vernon, 16th, 17:30 to round out the scorers.
The girls saw success as well, placing 4th out of 16 teams and putting 3 girls in the top 10. They were led by senior Rachel Strayer, 2nd, 19:37. Strayer was followed by Marilyn McCarthy, 3rd, 19:37, Emma McLaughlin, 9th, 21:06, Ashlee Schafer, 46th, 24:10, and Paige Johnson, 76th, 25:38.
Up next, the Stars head to their final regular season meet at the Jesse Owens Classic to compete against many of the top teams from around the south.
