Siegel sailed to an easy victory over Smyrna 8-2 on Thursday
Smyrna got on the board in the first inning. Smyrna scored one run when Ty Carter singled.
The Stars knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the third inning. Jackson Cauthron singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
Siegel pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Gabe Morris singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Zach Bondurant doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, and an error scored one run for the Stars.
Siegel put up three runs in the sixth inning. The Stars offense in the inning was led by Cauthron, Zac Pearson, and Seth Petry, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Jaden Lasley earned the win for Siegel. He surrendered two runs on eight hits over seven innings, striking out ten and walking zero.
Zac Stutzman took the loss for Smyrna. He allowed seven hits and four runs over four innings, striking out two.
Siegel tallied two home runs on the day. Pearson had a dinger in the sixth inning. Cauthron had a homer in the sixth inning.
Siegel collected 14 hits. Bondurant, Sean Lyons, Morris, and Cauthron each managed multiple hits for the Stars. Bondurant led Siegel with four hits in four at bats. The Stars didn’t commit a single error in the field. Cauthron had 11 chances in the field, the most on the team.
Christopher Hedden went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Smyrna in hits.
