Siegel put up six runs in the fourth on its way to an 11-3 victory over Riverdale on Tuesday. Siegel’s big bats in the inning were led by doubles by Matt McCurry and Sean Lyons, a single by Gabe Morris, and an error on a ball put in play by Zac Pearson.
The Stars got on the board in the first inning when Drew Benefield tripled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Siegel pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third CJ Murray singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Lyons singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
Siegel tallied six runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to doubles by McCurry and Lyons, a single by Morris, and an error on a ball put in play by Pearson.
John Ross Langworthy was the winning pitcher for the Stars. He allowed nine hits and three runs over six and a third innings, striking out four and walking one. BJ Lawrence threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Joey Mitchell toed the rubber for Riverdale. He surrendered five runs on eight hits over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Josh Archer and Peyton Fogle entered the game as relief, throwing two innings and one inning respectively.
Siegel tallied 14 hits on the day. Murray, McCurry, Benefield, Lyons, Morris, and Zach Bondurant all managed multiple hits for Siegel. Bondurant, Morris, Lyons, Benefield, McCurry, and Murray each managed two hits to lead the Stars.
Riverdale racked up nine hits in the game. Sabin Shoffner and Brett Dingess all had multiple hits for Riverdale.
