Varsity Baseball · Matt McCurry Drives in Six as Siegel Wins Over Stewarts Creek


Matt McCurry was bad news for opposing pitchers on Wednesday, driving in six on three hits to lead Siegel past Stewarts Creek 13-10 on Wednesday.  McCurry drove in runs on a double in the first, a double in the fourth, and a double in the fifth.

Siegel earned the victory despite allowing Stewarts Creek to score six runs in the seventh inning.  Stewarts Creek’s big inning was driven by a single by Mac Curtis, a home run by Brandon Rooney, and  by Chase Vondohlen.

Stewarts Creek got on the board in the first inning when an error scored one run for Stewarts Creek.

Siegel tallied four runs in the fifth inning.  Zac Pearson and McCurry all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Garrett Harvey got the start for the Stars. He allowed nine hits and six runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out six.

David Blackburn led things off on the mound for Stewarts Creek. He lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing 13 hits and ten runs while striking out one.  #16 threw one and one-third innings in relief.

Siegel socked one home run on the day. Pearson put one out in the fifth inning.

The Stars racked up 16 hits in the game.  McCurry, Drew Benefield, Sean Lyons, CJ Murray, and Zach Bondurant each managed multiple hits for Siegel.  Lyons, Benefield, and McCurry each collected three hits to lead Siegel.

Stewarts Creek racked up 12 hits on the day.  Sam Slaughter, Vondohlen, and Rooney all managed multiple hits for Stewarts Creek.  Slaughter led Stewarts Creek with three hits in four at bats.  Stewarts Creek didn’t commit a single error in the field. Bryson Givens had the most chances in the field with four.
