Siegel watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 12-7 loss to Stewarts Creek on Wednesday. Stewarts Creek scored on a home run by Brandon Rooney in the first inning, a single by Jake Alexander in the second inning, and a single by Chase Vondohlen in the second inning.
Drew Benefield drove in four runners in the loss. Benefield drove in runs on a home run in the fourth and a double in the sixth.
Stewarts Creek fired up the offense in the first inning, when Rooney homered on a 3-2 count, scoring three runs.
Siegel tallied three runs in the sixth inning. The Stars Stars’ batters contributing to the big inning included Benefield and Jackson Cauthron, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Stewarts Creek scored six runs in the fifth inning. Jacob Hamblen, Sam Slaughter, and Vondohlen all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Will Trapp took the win for Stewarts Creek. He surrendered five runs on five hits over four innings, striking out four and walking one.
Jason Chandler took the loss for Siegel. He lasted three innings, allowing three hits and five runs while striking out four.
Brenden Crowell started the game for the Stars. He allowed five hits and five runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one Aaron Moriarty started the game for Stewarts Creek. He went three innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out three
