Sophie Golliver shut down Smyrna, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Siegel to a 1-0 victory on Wednesday
The pitching was strong on both sides. Golliver struck out zero, while Kaitlin Higgins sat down one.
Siegel got things started in the first inning. Golliver singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
A single by Katie Killen in the fourth inning was a positive for Smyrna.
Golliver led things off in the circle for the Stars. She allowed four hits and zero runs over seven innings, walking zero.
Higgins was in the pitcher’s circle for Smyrna. She lasted six innings, allowing eight hits and one run while striking out one and walking zero.
Siegel saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Caitlyn McCrary, Claire Anna Czajkowski, and Kristen Lee each collected multiple hits for Siegel. McCrary went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Stars in hits.
Smyrna didn’t commit a single error in the field. Hannah Ward had five chances in the field, the most on the team.
