In the inaugural meet of the season, the Siegel swimmers made it very clear that this will be a very different year.
The team opened against a strong Oakland team that is a perennial force throughout the state. Welcoming the challenge, the team put out a great effort grabbing 20 additional points this year in comparison to the 2019 season. Siegel Coach Ragan Hardy noted “There were many great swims in the meet and you could see the hard work from the team is starting to pay off.”
There were many highlights from the night, beginning with the Freshmen newcomers Kenzie Orr and Catherine Clark. Each of these swimmers qualified for the MTHSAA Regional Meet in their first High School meet. Also breaking that barrier were Mattie Webb(Sr) and Owen Langford(Sr) . Hayden Wright (So) had a fast start to the season qualifying for the TISCA State Meet at this event.
In all, it was a great start to the season, in which almost every swimmer broke personal best times in the pool. Win or loss, it was an improved team in the pool and leaders really emerged. Now its back to cutting seconds through hard work as the team gets ready to face Smyrna next week.
